Creating and Inserting Images
Web Graphic Tips
Use JPG for photos, compress them.
Use GIF format for clipart and
reduce number of colors
Use 72 Dots Per Inch and no more.
Use Alt= to describe the image (it may not load).
Use Width= and Height= to make pages faster.
Re-use the same graphics on many pages (they will be cached).
Aim for a size of 10KB or less and
limit a page to 6 new pictures.
Use Align= to flow text around image.
Resist distracting animated GIFs.

photographs,
backgrounds,
icons, and
clipart.
Creating Graphics:
A Scanner converts printed matter into computer bits.
A Digital Camera goes direct to the computer, eliminating
film, developing, and scanning.
Editing Graphics:
Install an editor/viewer
to work with images.
Learn to crop pictures to the interesting part.
Thumbnails: Resize to smaller image (250-300 pixels wide for
most things) and link to full image. Use Windows Explorer to check
size in bytes.
