On this tiny islet, or "cay" as they are called,
Oliver offers a free boat ride, a perfect
beach, and a shady pavillion that serves, food, drinks and live music on Sundays.
Sandy Island BBQ is open 6 days per week for lunch,
with live entertainment on Sunday. Available for private parties and weddings
Closed Saturdays.
Closes for a month after Carnival on August 15, so the staff can have a
vacation too.
Sandy Island BBQ opens at Noon and closes around 4pm.
To catch Shauna Two, the free shuttle to Sandy island,
come to Sandy Ground beach and wait at the
pier by Johnnos Bar. The boat runs back and forth every
20 to 30 minutes.
Swim, snorkel, sunbath, eat, drink, and dance!
On Sunday afternoons, enjoy live entertainment from the Musical Brothers plus
Frankie Rogers on Sax. They play uptempo Caribbean music like "Hot, Hot, Hot",
and at a reasonable volume.
And they are
actually brothers, with a nephew on keyboards:
Randall on guitar, Dwight on vocals,
Sean on keyboard, Licoln on guitar and Dwayne on vocals.
Plus the multi-talented Frankie Rogers on saxaphone,
keyboards, and wherever they need him!
The beach and lagoon at Sandy Island are on the leeward side
of the island and very protected from the seas by reefs.
This makes for perfect swim and play conditions, especially
for the young.
