Twelve year old Brandon Wallace, reached the finals in the doubles tournament of the 15th Annual Coca Cola Junior International Tennis Tournament in St Lucia last week. This was quite a feat among 16 pairs of players in his twelve and under age group. It was the first time that Brandon had competed internationally and although happy with his achievement he says that he now realizes he must work harder to ensure future success. He was partnered by Alberton Richelieu from St Lucia.

The Tournament, which was sponsored by Coca-Cola, was arranged through the International Tennis Federation. Brandon travelled to St Lucia with his father Eudoxie Wallace, coach Mitchelle Lake and his brother Alexander who entered the 14 year age group but was faced with some very stiff competition and only reached the second round.

Competitors came from Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, St Lucia, Antigua, Barbados, England, USA, Jamaica, Canada and Bermuda. Players, coaches and parents stayed at the Orange Grove Hotel and Club St Lucia with special reduced rates. Lake told the Daily Herald that Walter MacCalman of Scotiabank and Millie Hodge of American Eagle are to be thanked for their assistance in making the trip possible.

Brandon told the Daily Herald, "I had a wonderful experience in St Lucia at the Junior International Tennis Championship. I made lots of friends with players throughout the region and look forward to seeing them again."
