Four Workshops to Select From

The second biennial Anguilla International Arts Festival will take place Sunday, July 25 - Sunday, August 1, 1999 here on our beautiful island. The programme for this exciting event is very extensive and includes a choice of 4 in-depth workshops by qualified experts in oil & acrylic, watercolour, pastel and stained glass. In addition, evening critiques of participants' work, followed by demonstrations from the workshop leaders will make the event a valuable and interesting learning experience. Workshop leaders' biographies follow below.

Please register for the workshops, festival, and competition, by March 31, 1999.

Oil & Acrylic - CHARLOTTE WHARTON

In her workshops throughout New England and the Midwest USA, Charlotte approaches the act of painting in a different way. She strives to give the artist/student not only a rational way to understand the fundamentals of what makes a good painting, the use of value, edges, colour and the construction of the painting but how to convey their own magical qualities in their paintings.

Charlotte is from Worcester, Massachusetts. In addition to being a Copley Master, she is a member of New York's Salmagundi Club and the Pastel Society of America. Among her many awards is the prestigious Grumbacher Gold Medal Award from the Copley Society of Boston

Pastel - CLAUDIA POST

Claudia is very familiar with the Caribbean in general and Anguilla in particular. She is an American Fine Artist, Portrait Painter & Pastelist and has been living and working in Sint Maarten for the past several years.

Her workshop, "Use of Pastel," concentrates primarily on portraiture and still life.

Claudia is listed in "Who's Who in American Art" , memberships in several American art organizations and has received many national awards.

Watercolour - CHERI WALTON

Cheri is from Bangor, Maine and is an accomplished art teacher and workshop instructor. She deals extremely well with all levels of students.

Her style of watercolour is distinctively fluid with works represented in 5 New England art galleries.

Cheri has a degree in Fine Art and Art Education from the University of Maine and has won numerous awards and affiliations, as well as being on the list in "Who's Who in American Women" in 1997, '98 and '99.
